How was, My First Trek Journey
Thought of being a traveler in the last days of my college and that thirst made me start with my first traveling spot – Lohgad Fort. When I came to Pune for study it was seriously not easy for me to dream about it due to insufficient money, time, college and what not. I was just waiting for a miracle to make it easy for me. And like we say it in Bollywood movies –
‘’ Kisi cheez ko dil se chaho… Toh puri kainaat use milane ki koshih mein lag jaati hain”
Trek to Harishchandragad From Mumbai and Pune
This fort is very ancient. Remains of a subtle man have been found here. Various Puranas (Harishchandragad) like Matsya Purana, Agni Purana, and Skanda Purana contains many references. The origins of the Kalachuri dynasty date back to the 6th century. Forts were built during this period. A variety of caves have been carved in the 11th century. These caves have idols of Lord Vishnu. Although the rocks are called Tarmati and Rohidas, they are not related to Ayodhya. The great Chan Shi Changdev (who created the Tattvasara epic) used to meditate here in the 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The various constructions on the fort and the extensive culture of the surrounding area indicate its existence.
